EMT-Basic jobs in middle east?

by Chris
(Beaverton, OR)

So I remember hearing once that contractors like to pay big bucks to hire people and send them over to the middle east. I am about to finish class to become an EMT-basic in june, and I was wondering if there is any opportunity for me to get a job in the middle east even though I have no experience yet as an EMT.

Also, I am wondering how much they pay, on average. Does it depend on the country you go to? I want to be sure that it would be worth it to go overseas. If you know which companies are hiring, that would be great, too.

If you could e-mail me any answers you have, that would be great. I have a tendency to forget to check websites like this. My e-mail address is chris-work@live.com

Thanks,

Chris W.

Experience.
by: Doc

Dear Chris,
Companies who are hiring Medics in Iraq or Afghanistan generally look for experienced persons. I spent 2 1/2 years as a Convoy Truck Driver in Iraq yet when I was in the Army I was a Dust Off Medic with medals and citations,.. Blah, blah, blah. The point is, even with my experience they still wanted persons with a little bit more.
As far as the pay, I can tell you what a Truck Driver was doing for "Outside the wire" work which amounted to around $3,100.00 for the location and uplft + an hourly wage based on 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for about 3-4 month before your first R&R. Wages were around $7,000.00 to $8,000.00 per month, my best was $10,000.00 in 1 month as a convoy commander.
Go to sites like KBR Careers, ITT International, Dyncorp and Fluor.
Good luck.
