Focus and persistence will land you that job!
Of course they have the best of intentions, as they are all trying to find a decent job to better provide for themselves and their families, but they may not have the focus to pursue the goal at hand. With so much information being thrown at us daily it's a wonder that we get anything done.
I have to admit that I often find myself distracted when trying to complete my own work. Often while researching a topic, I'll see something else that interests me and before I know it an hour has gone by. I really have to maintain focus so that I'm not wasting valuable time.
If this sounds like you and you're looking for lucrative work in the Middle East, then you need to focus specifically on what you are trying to achieve. A job in a war zone (such as iraq or Afghanistan) or in a more hospitable region (such as Kuait, Dubai, Bahrain, etc). You must also
determine if your skillset is needed in this area and what companies are offering these positions.
Once you find a position(s) that interests you, apply for these jobs and most of all follow-up. It's true that there may be hundreds applying for that same job but many will do so and forget about it. You need to track the jobs that you apply for. Keep a log and follow up with both email and over the phone. So many people have told me that they applied for a job and gave up because no one called. It takes persistance, and no one is going to be as persistant as you the job the seeker. Who knows, even if the job is filled, you're resume will still be on file and they may call you for another opening.
If you see several positions available that you qualify for, apply for all of them. You may find yourself entertaining several job offers. This is where you want to be. Now it's a matter of negotiations!
The key here is to focus and be persistant. Know the type of job you're looking for, where you want to work and who's offering the jobs. Then apply for these jobs and follow through. From the job descriptions you will discover the best method to contact the company. Stay in touch
and things will happen for you.
