Now what?

We've all had that time when we returned where we felt like we were either not contributing or not appreciated, it doesn't really matter now.
What you need to do is decide what you are capable of doing, ie; Security, construction, etc.. As a Military Vet I'm sure you've run into the types who talk like SAS Snipers, then you find out they were Clerk Typists with shell shock from listening to the keys click. Various groups are advertising for Security Personel, however, their standards are very high and as you are full aware, there is a glut on the market for former Military to fill these rolls.
I could point you to various Companies for a multitude of jobs, but you have to help by adding a little bit to the search, such as, "What are you qualified to do"? Dyncorp, Fluor, Blackwater and other companies are hiring Security, but I can't say that is what your looking for. As far as a 6 month contract is concerned, KBR as an example, will fly you to Houston, spend 1-2 weeks doing paperwork, giving shots, doing medical exams, and what have you, then fly you to Iraq, in process you there, get you up to speed on your job and by this time you already have a month or more into your tour, so you see, companies are going to look for more of a commitment than "I only want 6 months".
You would have to get a mind set of a year or more to really be concidered for hire, that's just simple economics.
Good luck.
Cheers
