Project Management Position Required

by Jane Warwick-Hall

Hi

I'm currently working as a Project Manager for Virgin Atlantic but would like to go out to Afghanistan to use these skills. Does anyone have any contacts to try to find a position in this field?

Many thanks.
Jane

Give fluor a shot, when you wind your way through there home page and get to careers, type in 22575BR which will be the Job#.
Good luck.

Re; PM Pos.

I seem to be posting the same link to the same Company over and over. If you don't mind being thrown under the bus, or if the feel of a nice, sharp knife in your back is what your looking for, then maybe KBR is for you. (I joke)
Most PM jobs I witnessed in Iraq were filled by Male Ex-Military types who would enter a base and before actually finding out which policies worked and which ones didn't, appear to institute their own policies from the get go.

Now I must apologize as this may sound slanderous, but I assure you that is not my intent. I worked for KBR for 2 1/2 years and at no point felt any connection to them in a positive manner. They appeared to be run by persons from 10,000 miles who had no clue what was happening in country. I have to blame the local management as they should have been the ones responsible for maintaining communication with Houston, what would have been a worse possibility was that the head office was listening but impeding the PM's progress. All of this is academic as the P.M. would make an initial appearance, say "Good job" then disappear into their office like a Ground Hog into a Burrow. After that, it would be rumors as to what policies were his or Houston's. Even Supervisors appeared to be out of the loop. Again, this is just an observation and no hard facts are implied. But if you want to give it a shot, maybe you could get on and garner the respect and admiration of those under you, since no other P.M. I met could.

Project Management Positions

Hi Jane,

Have you been monitoring the PM positions on this site? I've seen many in the past. Monitor the links and you should come across a position to your liking, in particular in Afghanistan and Iraq. Better off if you have a PMP cert.

Alan
