Resume Sent

Hello, I emailed my resume when I applied to a job for a heavy duty mechanic listing. I haven't heard anything about whether it was received or not. I am interested in a position in Afghanistan for about 2 years or more but need to know what the next step is for me. How do I get hired? How do I know if they received my resume or not?

What company?
by: Doc

Dear Greg,
Generally when you submit a resume to a company they will automatically send you a confirmation letter to your email.
What company you applied to may have something to do with the way they respond to applications.
Dyncorp, KBR, ITT and Fluor all respond with a "Thank you for you interest"... type letter.
The follow up to your application as far as being notified of a hiring may take a very long time. I have said in recent posts that (As an example) KBR had in 2007 over 1/2 of a million applications on hand and a total of less than 60 thousand positions, most of them were active positions already, which meant 500,000 applications for a few hundred jobs.
Don't stop applying though, these are only 4 companies which are allotted contracts under Logcap. Also there are Companies based in Iraq which have many positions open to Expatriates.
Good luck.
